RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE IMMOKALEE WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT ADOPTING A GREASE CONTROL PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.


WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the IMMOKALEE WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT (hereinafter referred to as the "Board") is empowered to construct, operate and maintain a Water and Sewer System (the "System") within the boundaries of the lands described in Florida Statute Chapter 78-494; and


WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Board to place public health and safety foremost, in the operation of District; and


WHEREAS, the Board wishes to adopt a written Grease Control Policy setting forth the rules, criteria and definitions, governing the program.


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

OF THE IMMOKALEE WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT, in public meeting assembled that the following Grease Control Program be implemented.

    1. INTRODUCTION


    2. General


      The Immokalee Water & Sewer District operates a public water utility serving the area in and around the town of Immokalee located in north central Collier County, Florida. The utility has defined the need to establish a program for limiting the discharge of grease, oil and solids to its collection system. This document provides the framework for meeting this requirement.


    3. Program Objectives


This program provides a basis from which to implement appropriate grease control requirements within the District's system. Implementation of the program involves several key elements. These elements include inspection of existing customer services and on-site wastewater sources to establish the potential for generation of grease, oils or solids in quantities which might be detrimental to the operation of the District collection, transportation and treatment system.

This program is to be implemented under the requirements of and in accordance with the governing criteria and rules which are established by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the Department of Professional Regulation and appropriate requirements of the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. The following documents are incorporated by reference into this program:


If any phase or portion of this Resolution is held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion.
