An act relating to the Immokalee Water and Sewer District, Collier County; amending chapter 98-495, Laws of Florida; providing compensation for members of the districts board of commissioners; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. Section 6 of section 2 of chapter 98-495, Laws of Florida, is amended to read:

Section 6. Organization.The board shall organize by electing from its number a chair, a vice chair, a secretary, and a treasurer. The members of the board shall serve 4-year terms. Members of the board may each be paid a salary or honorarium to be determined by at least a majority plus one vote of the board, which salary or honorarium may not exceed $250 per month for each member. Special notice of any meeting at which the board will consider a salary change for a board member must be published at least once, not less than 14 days before the meeting, in a newspaper of general circulation in the county in which the district is located. Board members may not be paid for any unexcused absences from regularly scheduled board meetings. The board shall adopt policies by resolution defining excused and unexcused absences. No commissioner shall receive compensation for his or her services. Board members shall be reimbursed for travel and per diem pursuant to s. 112.061, Florida Statutes.

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. Approved by the Governor June 10, 2015.
